Urban farming

Aims to increase access to healthy and appropriate nutrition by KaTs living with ToD.

CAFÉ members grow foods to feed themselves, the community, and sometimes selling it for some money to address other needs for KaTs living with ToD.

Urban farming occurs when people living in a city or heavily populated towns repurpose their small green spaces or potential environmental pollutants (e.g. plastic bottles, sacks, motor vehicle tyres) to grow food (fruits and vegetables) and/or raise smaller animals (e.g. goats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys).

Due to the informal nature of the dwellings of our target population, not every urban farm is located at the owners’ housing e.g. backyards, rooftops or indoors; some are located on leased/common community spaces.
