Vision

Children with SCD living to their full potential across the lifespan

Mission Statement

Promoting evidence-based service delivery for prevention of adverse health outcomes among children living with SCD

Core values

a) Patient centred

Children living with SCD together with their parents, caregivers and families are treated with dignity, and involved in all decisions about their health.

b) Holistic

All health services are geared towards supporting the overall well-being of children living with SCD — such as physical, emotional, social and spiritual health — and not just treating a health issue by itself.

c) Evidence - based

Quality care offered to children with SCD is based on the most up-to-date research and knowledge

d) Rights-based

Focusing on underlying determinants of health – the economic, political, and social systems that determine health status and have far greater impact on health of children than mere provision of medicine.

e) Equitable

Every child living SCD is supported to attain their full potential of health, and no one is disadvantaged due to race, ethnicity, age, disability, socioeconomic status, or geographical background.
